GAME STRUCTURE

Each ice slot features two mini-games and possibly a shootout, depending on results:

  1. Split wins (1 each) → 3-player shootout (Winner: 2 pts, Loser: 1 pt)

  2. One team wins both → That team receives 2 points

  3. 1 win + 1 tie → 2 points go to the team that won a game

  4. Both games tie → 3-player shootout (Winner: 2 pts, Loser: 1 pt)

FOR COACHES & MANAGERS

  1. Zero Tolerance Policy is strictly enforced.

  2. Home team provides a scorekeeper.

  3. If jersey colors clash, visiting team must wear pinnies (available from Coach Cheli).

  4. All players must sign the official roster—this is a non-USA Hockey sanctioned league.

  5. Final rosters due by end of 2nd tiering game. Subs must be listed.

  6. A coach must be on the bench at all times.

  7. Check the website frequently for updates.

  8. Parents should check the site the night before games for any changes.

  9. Direct any issues during the season to me personally.

ZAMBONI PROTOCOL

Be ready to take the ice immediately after the Zamboni exits and the doors close. Refs will buzz the clock twice, wait one minute, then start warmups. No one is allowed on the ice while the Zamboni is in motion.

SCORESHEETS & ROSTERS

  • Scoresheets are kept at the front desk and may not leave.

  • Referees will deliver them to the penalty box.

  • Cross off absent players before each game.

  • Stickers are highly encouraged for efficiency.

  • Refs will perform a headcount prior to puck drop.

SCOREKEEPERS

Score clock buzzes every minute. Stop time only for:

  1. Injuries

  2. Penalties

  3. Referee signal

Home team or team playing an individual sign-up team must supply a scorekeeper.

ROSTER TEMPLATES & WAIVERS

  • Teams cannot play until rosters are submitted using the league template.

  • All players must electronically sign the league waiver. No waiver = no play.

  • Waiver link sent to parents after roster is received.

TIEBREAKERS

Two-team tiebreaker:

  1. Head-to-head

  2. Most wins (GF = Games Won)

  3. Win/loss differential (GF - GA)

Three+ team tiebreaker:

  1. Best record among tied teams (must all play each other)

  2. Most overall wins

  3. Games won vs. games lost differential in tied-team matchups

GAME RULES & FORMAT

Mini Game Lengths:

  • Mites: 2 x 20 min (No warmup)

  • Squirts–Bantams: 3 min warmup, 2 x 20 min

  • Midgets: 3 min warmup, 2 x 22 min

Key Rules:

  • No offsides, icings, or whistles.

  • After a goal: Scored-on team restarts, scoring team must fully exit the zone before re-entering.

  • All penalties = penalty shot. Major penalties result in ejection.

  • 3 minors in one game = ejection.

  • No checking—penalty shot + game ejection for infractions.

  • Player changes must be stick-length apart, 1-for-1 exchange.

  • Penalty shots: Players behind blue lines, play resumes after shot.

  • 10 penalties in a game = every penalty after is an automatic goal, and coach suspension.

  • Bench doors: No banging to signal changes.

  • Teams must have at least 5 players to start.

  • Failure to clear zone after a goal = delay of game (1 warning, then penalty shot).

  • Teams may borrow up to 2 players from the opposing team to avoid forfeit (both coaches must agree).

  • No goalie? Penalty = automatic goal. Skater in net has no goalie privileges.

NO SHOW / NO FORFEIT RULE

Any team that no-shows forfeits its playoff eligibility. This ensures fairness to teams that show up ready to play.
After Week 2, the full schedule is posted—teams have time to request reschedules.
Exceptions: If both teams agree to reschedule AND we can accommodate it (not guaranteed due to ice time), then neither team is penalized. If reschedule isn’t possible, no points are awarded to either team.

DISCIPLINE POLICY

Misconducts

  • 1st: Ejection

  • 2nd: 1-game suspension

  • 3rd: 3-game suspension (if within final 3 games, carries over to next summer)

Fighting

  • 1st: 4-game suspension (off bench)

  • 2nd: Suspended for remainder of season

Other Penalties

  • 3 in one game = ejection

  • Checking from behind = game ejection + 1-game suspension

  • Refs may penalize teams for unruly parents—repeat offenders will be banned for the season.

PLAYER & TEAM CONDUCT

Our #1 priority is the safety and enjoyment of all participants.

  • Aggressive, dangerous, or unsportsmanlike conduct is not tolerated.

By participating in this league, all teams agree to follow these rules and uphold the values of respect, safety, and sportsmanship.
